At West Spring Primary School, this is our second year in operation. We have since doubled our enrollment for Whizmeal program in 2016.  Whizmeal is truly grateful and encouraged by your continuous support and blessings, Parents! Here are what a couple of new parents got to say:

Whizmeal, I Care

Whizmeal, I care. A Human2Human movement.

Who do you care?
Why do you care?
What do you care?
Where do you care?
And how do you care?

Picture

"Whizmeal, I can" is a movement. A movement to bring up the significance of affordable, healthier and sustainable school meals in schools. Starting young, we have the ability to encourage, create and even empower positive eating habits.

Who will be impacted?
1. The ultimate beneficiary are our children
2. The secondary beneficiaries are as follows:
- parents
- principals
- administrators
- including the role of stallholders / food service providers
- allied healthcare experts from private and public sectors

Why should you take part?
1. Because, simply you care
2. You want your voice to be heard. Every one action you do, accumulate with the rest of like minded individuals, will be heard significantly more

What do we do?
Our Whizmeal program runs with four pillars of belief:
1. Educate - setting a sound foundation for balanced school meals and the direction ahead
2. Order - preorder to secure balanced meals and be conscious of the meals ordered and to be consumed
3. Monitor - data points are captured and these helps evaluation and recommendations; it's a ongoing cycle of improvement
4. Encourage - results such as improved revenue on sales of balanced meals, improved consumption of fruits and vegetables, increased variety of balanced meals - encouraging results, aren't they?

Where to start?
We starting from Singapore but in actual fact, our aim is to support the multi diversity in Asia. Our plan is to connect with concerned parents and individuals in primarily capital cities across Asia. Let's come together to make a bigger difference together. [pledge]

How? Let's come together with this simple gesture:
You can tag #iCareWhizmeal on all your social media platforms. Input your comments, images, videos to [pledge] your support!

Thank you, on behalf of our younger generations!

Whizmeal product development journey

16/8/2014

Comments

Before we arrived at Whizmeal today, we went through a series of adventure. We didn't settle on a specific model but rather settled that we are keen to find the most appropriate model. Today two years on, we are still fine tuning our model. I have two lessons to share today:

Picture

1. Try, try and try
In a startup scenario like ours, uniquely, our competitors are deemed to be in a different playing field and in different segment: on one spectrum we have large scale food operators and on the other tail, we have payment solutions for schools. Both service the needs of the schools differently. Well, the key would be to find the shortest path to your customers needs and how to reach out to these specific customers who require your services.

2. Learn, learn and learn faster
In a startup scenario, you have no luxury of extensive resources. Make do with what you have. Yes learn the best practices. Learn how to apply to your own business. Learn how to perform key functions better. Learn to learn and re-learn again. Situation changes and we may have to adapt accordingly. And yes, accept that it's not the best product that wins, it's the product that closest to the needs of your customers and how they understood your service delivery to fulfilling what they need (or what they think they need).

An Outreach focus

1/7/2014

Comments

It was inevitable that we have to revisit this stage and to review this with greater intent/intensity. It is important that Whizmeal set up and build up the outreach arm.

Why an outreach focus?
We took a step back and assessed Whizmeal scope of business. Here is a great assessment by Shujog on our social impact:
Picture
Today, we are clearer than a year prior and much clearer than three years ago. We are on a mission to 'combat obesity' in children. The most ideal way is to focus on the largest group of students with the highest frequency of contact times. Schools.

There is also a certain level of influence (including barriers) we can work together with, in schools.

In Singapore alone, we have close to 200 local primary schools and maybe another 20 private/international schools with elementary level. In total, we are looking at a size of 200,000 6-13 years old. If they have a daily meal (either breakfast or lunch), we are looking at the ability to possibly influence 4 million meals a month.

Key factors include
  • School canteen healthy eating direction
  • School meals (variety, serving, etc.)
  • School meal handlers / food service providers
  • Parents
  • Students

The Whizmeal team has and had demonstrated success with multiple school canteen stakeholders. Come and contact Whizmeal for a preliminary discussion. Register your interest today.
