We were indeed proud to be the only SME (smaller medium enterprise) participating in this competition. We were pitching against institutions, hospitals including government agencies. Our concept was an extension of Whizmeal's direction towards 'Active Parent-Child engagement' so we brainstormed and came up with 'Whizpet' - a mobile app which allows kids to feed different ingredients to their pet dog. Simply expanding the widely popular 'Tamagotchi' pet toy, Whizpet also offers parents a window to peek into their kids' activities.
Over a series of activities, parents and kids are more exposed to what and how their nutrition and health awareness. It's an experiential learning tool which also inculcates snippets of public health education message: For example:
Having said this, Whizpet is a concept idea but certainly nicely received by the audience and judges, as something refreshing - targeting the younger age segments and less a utility tool/hardware. One of the judges explained, "Try to consider the sports angle! See how you can model the diet with an exercise regime to make it a Super Dog!" Yea super! We love the feedback. Alright, Whizmeal back to business. For more information on ICOST2013, you can go to: http://www.icostconference.org/icost2013/hacknovate |
